Paul Thirston from Design Wales has mentioned us in an article for Plastik Magazine, very good of him!

We have won a few big contracts by using a new way of thinking and communicating with potential new customers. We can't wait to share all the details once the projects are completed.

The challenge is to explain service design/design thinking and all its benefits, examples/case studies before people glaze over and say – oh that’s a marketing thing or oh, that’s been done before, it's just packaging it in a new way!

Application Form versus the CV

At the start of our hunt for a new designer, I decided against asking for CV’s, opting for the traditional application form. This had its challenges. We simply requested that they be handwritten and returned by post so we could see the style of handwriting and access the information, as we wanted it. If designers would keep their CV simple, no huge graphics, no fancy logos, just the information it would be much easier for us.

Armed with one very large whiteboard, a couple of Sharpies, nice thick pads of neon post it’s and my new service design icons, we began our journey. Thursday 20th was a full day with service design taster sessions that were a really good way to look at businesses and how they offer their services. We had a quick case study, to set the scene...
